OK here’s what has been happening

I got locked out of this site for a bit but I am back.

Things are moving forward. I will post an update later.

Crafty Tuesday A Month Before DragonCon 2016

Posted By on August 2, 2016

I think I need to just sit down and write down what I have left to do. Then have a good cry and just get it done.

Yesterday was a wash for me. I got some stuff done but my bigger problem is that my hands were not cooperating so it was taking me about three time the amount of time it usually takes me to do anything. There were a lot of things that ‘flew’ out of my hand. Trying to cut a straight line was a long process. Sewing was not happening with the machine and trying to thread a needle was a crap shoot.

This morning, so far, things are calm and I think I can get stuff done. Going to start with a simple Phluzzie and go from there. I want to get Foam into place before it starts raining again.

The frustration I am feeling because I don’t have the stamina that I use to for these sorts of things is growing. But I will pull it from somewhere because I always pull it from somewhere.

I am going to have to bag the costume for DragonCon until NYCC. Realistically don’t have the time and I am going to recognize that I don’t have the time or resources to pull it off the way I want to. But I have the pieces of what I need to do. So I am thinking that I will produce a piece at a time.

So off to sew, then gym, then grocery store, then back to the puppets.

I am grateful that I know my limitations and how many hours I really have.

RTBCKI First Monday in August?!!? How did that happen?

First I wish a Happy First Anniversary to Jeff & Angelo. I am glad that I was there and very happy that we are all still here a year later. Let’s keep beating the statistics OK?

I haven’t a clue when I will be able to publish this since our Internet is on the fritz. This has been happening more and more and all we are getting is spiffy excuses on why our area is the dead zone for Wi-Fi.

Yesterday I had probably twenty reasons not to go to the gym. I had pretty much talked my way out of it when Caroline asked me if we were going and could I help her with some of the free weight exercises to make sure she was doing them right. So I went to the gym and had a so-so work out but I did work out. My motivation is 13 and plotting her next visit to Universal.

I will say that I actually lost weight while out in California. I may not have done a lot of strength work but I did a ton of cardio.

Nebula is on the decks for today. Along with a couple more puppet slam puppets.

Olympics start this weekend. I wish all the non-doping athletes well. It must be hard to work at something only to have it taken away by others who are using drugs to get to the level that one has achieved by work alone.

Tomorrow I think I will be posting some of the costumes that I saw at SDCC for crafty Tuesday. People did a lot of amazing work at that convention.

I read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Not bad at all. I do have some quibbles about some of the characters and wonder how the staging is going to work at some points but having seen the area play of How to Train Your Dragon, I am sure that it will be done and look good. It does look like it will be a limited run here on Broadway but that’s probably a year to two down the line. I think what people need to remember is that this is basically children’s theater on a large scale and it does have some panto tropes, which is pretty typical for British children’s theater. Break a leg to the actors who play Albus and Scorpius since it lives or dies on the performance of those two actors.

We still have the Deathly Hallows to go to finish our Potter marathon, which I think we will be doing today.

I am grateful for the imagination of J K Rowling who has entertained our family for many hours.

Time is moving sideways apparently

The only reason I know it is Sunday is that my computer is telling me so. I am so upside down about which day of the week it is right now.

I did get all the suitcases empty and we did get the laundry started and the larder restocked for the week or the part of the week we will be here.

Next up, getting the suitcases upstairs to be put away or some of them as we are using others to travel again.

We discovered that we have another convention in August. So that has to be taken into account for everything else I am doing.

What’s next puppet wise? Well Nebula I think and some final touches to Strange and Mordo since I know more about the costumes than I did before. Then puppet slam and Art Show in rapid pace.

And I have some fluzzies to build. I might go ahead and build those because they are almost a break from the more complex things I have on my table.

Today will consist of some errands that still need to be run, laundry part deux, the gym and some research for some puppets.

Tomorrow I am really hoping to get back to building puppets. I have bodies that need faces and clothing.

I am grateful for empty suitcases with wheels that work.

RTBTCKI The Gots-to-do edition

Posted By on July 30, 2016

There was a ‘song’ in a play I did years ago that was entitled ‘Gots-to-do’. It might have been one of the Blood Orgies or a children’s show but the chorus is stuck in my head right now. Probably because I really do have a lot to do in a short time.

Today Caroline is starting a marathon viewing of all the Harry Potter movies since it is Harry’s imaginary Birthday Weekend. I honestly don’t mind them in the background as I work on getting the place back in shape before I can really get back to the puppets.

Laundry and larder are the words of the day. Larder should have been yesterday but time got away from me so it is on the docket today.

By the end of the day, I want to get the suitcases out of the living room, which includes the puppet bag and Mystery Trekkie props from Shoreleave.

It seems that the Mets have gone back to their post All-Star game form. They have lost 3 in a row and the last one wasn’t even close.

Olympics are starting soon. As is tradition, the Greeks go first and then the countries in alphabetical order according to the language of the country. Apparently that is not good enough for NBC who would like the USA to be in the ‘U’ section rather than the ‘E’ section where they are now. They feel like the TVs will be turned to another channel once the team marches. Opening ceremonies are pageantry unlike anything else we have on this planet. If you are watching them, you are watching all of them including the teams marching in.

Caroline is already plotting her Hogwarts trip for next week. She is looking forward to running around with some of her Florida buddies and immersing herself into the World of Harry Potter. We might do Disney too.

Right now the two cats are in either half of a suitcase asleep. I think they either don’t want us to do or want to come with us. Either way they look very comfortable.

Been awake since 5:30 but got up at 6:00 and took care of some stuff both on and off line.

Now I am working through my brain about the next thing that must be done and the thing after that.

But first more coffee is needed.

I am grateful for things that are already put away.
