This week was my week to take the prompt and be clever. Some of this happened after bouncing ideas off of Peter and others were sheer desperation of getting something drawn in time to meet the deadline.
The drawing are under the cut. I am rather proud of a couple of them.
I am grateful for ideas that translate into drawings.

Or I actually got to see some football yesterday.
The running gag around here is that if the Giants and the Jets lose in the same week, someone dies in Westros. If one team loses and one wins, unless they are playing each other, then someone gets maimed.
Since the Giants won and the Jets haven’t played yet, then maimed it is so far.
I saw some good football games, some bad, and some that were nail bitters for both sides. I don’t think they could have planned a couple of those endings.
And Prescott was finally intercepted but didn’t let it affect him so he continued to play very well. He broke Brady’s old record of 162 by throwing 177 before Morgan Burnett finally caught one intended for someone else. I think Mr. Burnett kept that game ball.
There are a number of teams that the Quarterbacks are reaching their sell-by date. There are others that are still going strong with the guys they have. It will be interesting to see the moves in the off season.
Football was not my entire day. Caroline and I got out the Halloween decorations including the graveyard, which I didn’t put up last year since the lawn had just been reseeded. A couple of families were out for a walk and they told me how happy they were that the graveyard was back. I am missing a box that had a couple of things that I need to finish the job but I am going to look for those today.
Caroline started on her Halloween costume that I am going to continue working on. More on that probably next Tuesday.
I have been asked how I feel about Once Upon a Time this season since my favorite characters are going through a rough patch that doesn’t make much sense considering their past history. The writers have been setting this up for about two years now or at least a year and a half. Yes, some of their actions seem a little out of place but like a good soap opera there is no story without some tension and drama. I do think that eventually this will get all sorted out but I am afraid it is going to be on the corpse of one or the other and since one of them has already ‘died’ and I don’t have great hope of the other making it through the season. I do like the concept that they have for this season of unfinished stories finding their endings. It does allow for expansion without having to explain where the character came from.
Yes, I am still looking forward to seeing Doctor Strange even though I think I have probably seen about a third of it between all the teasers, trailers, promos and making of. I know the story of the character very well and as a fan of him, I must say that what I have seen so far has made me want to see more. I have now seen a glimpse of the one thing I had some concerns about and it looks great. Now November just has to roll in and I have it in my hand.
But not too soon please. I have a lot to do before Halloween.

Or thinking things through.
My husband brought me back a Pepe’s pizza from Connecticut, which was wonderful. For those not in the know, Pepe’s pizza, to me, is some of the best pizza on the planet. If it weren’t for Richard Pini, I would not know that it existed. I had a lovely dinner last night.
I have been thinking about mindfulness recently. Or rather being aware of the now. As I get older I find myself thinking more about the now than the next couple of years. Maybe because I am more set in my ways but I still am learning and exploring.
Maybe because I have to be aware of what my hands are doing or not going to do. I am very careful on days that the shakes are bad. Typing takes twice as long as errant keystrokes create new words that either don’t exist or get auto-corrected to the wrong word that totally changes the meaning of what I am trying to write. It is a matter of focus.
Caroline and I are going to put out the graveyard and measure her closet. Cleaning the cat boxes is in there somewhere.
So I am making today a doing day rather than a thinking day, I think. Not sure yet.

It has taken over two years and a lot of hissy fits, but Fig and Inky seem to have reached some sort of accord that including curling up with one and other to sleep. They can now occupy close quarters without one running off or swiping at the other. Not a perfect peace as there are occasional battles for the role of Alpha cat but much more peaceful.
Today Peter and Caroline are off to visit my mother-in-law who has finally been moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center with the hopes of getting her back home later this year.
I am going to take the day to do some projects that are better if no one is in the house while I am doing them. Sometimes it is better to not see how the cheese is made.
I also have my Drawlloween prompt. I know what I want to do. I need to find some reference to draw it by.
I am grateful for cats that get along with each other.

I don’t know if it is the interrupted sleep pattern or the nameless feeling of dread or stress because things have been in a bit of an uproar, but I am feeling off center. I am going to go with the lack of deep sleep until proven otherwise.
I just figured out it was Friday as our week was a rather tumultuous one with Caroline out of school on Monday and Wednesday and getting back from NYCC. I have been stuck on the thought it was Thursday for most of the week.
The next two weeks are going to be busy as we head for Caroline’s confirmation then Halloween and then the rest of what little there is of the year.
In the middle of all that, we have tickets to the Marvel screening of Dr. Strange, which I swear I have been looking forward to since I was eight. I am so ready to see what they have done with my favorite Marvel character and probably my favorite comic book character. From all reports, its gonna be a good one.
The Dodgers and the Nationals gave the phrase “seventh inning stretch” a whole new meaning last night. One hour and 6 minutes to play the inning. And the Dodgers pulled it off in that inning. There is going to be so much second guessing about that game. I am looking forward to what they say on “Around the Horn” about this.
As the temperature has been dropping, Fig and Inky have sorted out their differences and have been curling up with each other more. It is really cute. Only took two years to get them to this point.
Today I think I am going to clean. Tomorrow the gym with Caroline and some other creative activities. It is going to be nice to have a weekend home with everyone and nothing looming on the horizon.
I am grateful for colored pencils that are sharpened.
