….Just a bit outside.
I have created a website for my puppets. What is up now is my first pass to see what it would look like. Now I have to tweak it and get it to where it works. I need feedback on what I have up so far. Just know that the prices cannot go any lower or I start losing money, which is not the point of this exercise.
It can be found here
I have more that I want to put up but I need to figure out how to organize it.
Now I need to work on the Patreon site and get flyers and business cards together for the convention season. I haven’t had a working business card in ages.
Promoting others I can do very well. I am really good at it.
Promoting myself is a problem. I have a hard time tooting my own horn and putting myself out there.
I have no idea why the two feel so different to me. And trying to pretend I am promoting me by being someone else I am promoting just doesn’t work.
We have been watching Spring Training for Baseball, which is why baseball terms are running through my head.
I am grateful for finally getting a website at least up.

I have been thinking a lot about this Lenten season that starts today. Caroline has as well.
It is a time for reflection and that classic question, “So what are you giving up for Lent?”
I try for both sides of the coin. I give something up but I also try to do something positive as well.
I am giving up my noodling time on the Internet or rather reducing it to a controlled number of minutes.
I am going to take 10 minutes a day for meditation/prayer. 10 minutes in quiet contemplation which, if you know me, is not as easy as it sounds.
There are some starlings outside the living room window and the cats are all at the window watching them very carefully. I see muzzles twitching as they watch. They have turned the zum-zums into cat toys. I found about a dozen in Fig’s bed and now they are in Inky’s bed and Mewlan’s sleeping box as well. Either they were distributed by one cat or they are stealing them for each other and making their own treasure troves like little dragons.
We saw Captain Marvel last night. Caroline adored it. I think it became her favorite Marvel film. There was a touching tribute to Stan Lee that was just lovely. The cast did great. The story and direction were solid. It went places that I didn’t think it was going to go but it made sense once we got there. Don’t let people spoil it for you. See it and make your own discoveries. This morning Caroline went to school wearing her Captain Marvel jacket. I will put out a review probably this weekend.
I am trying to put something out here once a day. Getting back into the writing habit that is consistent rather than not. I am not going to beat myself up mentally if I miss a day but I find doing this helps with the rest of the day. Kind of gets my brain started up.
I can tell when the brain is really in a good place when I can easily do a Sudoku puzzle. When I see patterns in the numbers it says that my brain is engaged.
I am grateful that I saw Captain Marvel without any spoilers.

Today is my mother’s birthday.
My mother had a lot to do with shaping the person I am today. Starting with carrying me for nine months for which I will be forever grateful.
My mother leads by example. She knew/knows we watch her behavior and that becomes our methods of behavior.
One of the many things she taught me from an early age that I learned from observation is to treat everyone the way you like to be treated. Be polite and respectful of the other person. Everyone who is doing a job, no matter how menial you might think it, deserves respect and civility.
I watched her fight battles so that women that came after her didn’t have to. She is still doing it in her own way.
Last night I made hollandaise from scratch from a recipe she has in a cookbook she made for her children. It tasted just like hers. I feel so good every time I use one of her tried and true recipes and it turns out just like what she would cook.
She knows a lot about gardening. She can identify plants just by looking at them. She has done her research on the topic and used that knowledge in her gardens. This year might not look as nice as previous years due to the temperature fluctuations causing some things to bloom too soon. But it will still look amazing. I did not inherit her green thumb but having managed to keep a houseplant alive for over six years now, which is a record for me.
I learned a number of parenting tricks from her that I used during my stage management career and even at Del Rey books. The biggest probably being to make sure you listen to the other person and make sure they know that you did hear them.
Happy Birthday Mom, hope the day brings you lots of lovely things.
I am so very grateful that my mother is my mother.

The Storm went north of us dropping all that snow on Connecticut and west of us.
The sun went a long way to helping get rid of the snow that did fall after the rain had reduced the amount of snow on the ground.
I am not unhappy about this.
They had a two hour delay for school but that worked well because I didn’t have to worry about Caroline walking in the dark with icy sidewalks.
Apparently I did enough to cause the storm to avoid the area.
Tomorrow Caroline and I are traveling into the city to see the Friends and Family showing of Captain Marvel. Peter is seeing it this evening at the North American premiere so if you think you see him in photos there, you are not wrong.
I am grateful for things that are possible passing into the realm of probable.

We have a front coming our direction that can’t seem to decide which way to go.
If it goes one direction we get a little snow and then rain.
If it goes the other direction we are looking at 5 to 8 inches of snow.
I have restocked the larder and made sure we had toilet paper so that’s done.
The store, which is usually calm before 10 AM, was much more frantic than it usual is on a Sunday. I like going at that time because I can shop for what we need and get out in good time. This morning there was a crowd trying to beat the crowd for stocking up in case of whatever the weather tosses at us. This along with the restocking that goes on Sunday morning made for more of an adventure than I would like.
Caroline is finishing all her homework in anticipation of a snow day. She figures if she is ready for the day, then more snow and no school.
We covered the car and made sure that the shovels and village approved salt is in place since our runoff goes right into the bay.
Then we wait until we see which weather system will win the current fight.
I am grateful for people where they need to be before a storm hits.
