SDCC Caroline’s First Panel
Posted By Kathleen David on July 23, 2020
Maggie Thompson is the daughter of a Science Fiction writer. She grew up attending conventions. She and her husband Don were the creators and owners of Comic Buyer’s Guide which was the industry and fan go to for information about comics.
She has a standing panel at SDCC entitled Spotlight on Maggie Thompson. In 2016 she decided to do a panel about second generation fandom and invited Caroline to participate.
This was the panel description
Maggie Thompson (Toucan blogger) interviews three other “Nerd Family” kids: Lora Boehm (daughter of John and Bjo Trimble), Sky McLeod (daughter of Scott McCloud and Ivy Ratafia), and Caroline David (daughter of Peter and Kathleen David). Check out what four generations of second-generation fans have to share.
It was a very interesting panel to see how over the years it has gone from having to go to conventions to find your tribe because most people think the things that you love are strange to finding your tribe at school who love the same fandoms you do because fandom is now main stream and you are not weird for liking what you like. Basically, we won.
