San Diego Comic Con should have started today so…

Posted By on July 22, 2020

Last night was better than the night before but still I do not feel rested.

Maybe it is the current barometric conditions. Maybe it is the heat.

It could be worrying about all kinds of things some I have control over and others I do not. I feel at loose ends about a number of things.

That and my GI track and I have been at odds for three days now. If this continues, I will go to the Doctor. It has happened before and tends to sort itself out. Belly pain stinks.

Today would have been the preview night of the San Diego Comic Con.

I am going to post photos from our time at SDCC.

One of Caroline’s favorite shows of all time is Steven Universe. It is one of her touchstones.

One of her heroes is Rebecca Sugar who created the show. Thanks to the SDCC staff, she got to meet Rebecca and tell her how much her works means to Caroline. She also met a number of the voice artists including Estelle.

At SDCC four years ago today, she got into a Steven Universe panel that included a sing along and hearing new songs for the next season. It was the first time we heard “Here comes a thought” which is one of my favorite songs from the show. Estelle sang “Strong than You” and the crowd sang long.

(For The VI: This is Estelle on stage with a microphone in her hand. She is wearing a black flowing shirt and black pants. She has on sunglasses. Behind her is the band.)

(For the VI: This is a photo of, from left to right, Ivy Ratafia, Scott McCloud’s wife, Skye McCloud, Winter McCloud, and Caroline)

Behind us sat a number of the story boards artists and crew for the show. We had a nice chat with them. Caroline got some drawing from them. Among the group was Rebecca’s brother Steven who was the model for Steven Universe.

(For the VI: Caroline is on the left and Steven on the right. They are both wearing red shirts with a yellow star in the middle.)

(For the VI: Caroline holding up her signed Steven Universe poster with a large grin on her face.)

Thank you SDCC for this adventure.

I am grateful for San Diego comic con and all the people I have met there.
