Mixed Feelings

Posted By on December 30, 2017

Today I was suppose to go into the city and get together with my gaming group to take on a group of Kobols that were destroying a city.

Instead I am home with a fever, sore throat, and a cough while snow falls outside my window.

Today is also when, five years ago, we announced to the world that Peter had a stroke. We waited until we knew that he was on the mend because there was a period of time that we had no idea what was happening next.

He is sitting next to me as I type this. He is considered recovered from his stroke and can live his life with minor changes.

He is better than he was a week ago. On Black Friday he took a fall at the Bridgeport ferry station and we now know that he has a number of pinched nerves in his back leading to pain on his left side. They have put him on something that is working because he can stand again without bellowing in pain.

We got back from our visits to Atlanta and to see Ariel and company very late on Thursday. I am still recovering from the road noise. We had a number of hours added to our trip because of someone in Virginia who shot and killed his ex-wife and then led the police on a chase on I-95 North eventually rolling their car after hitting several other cars and shooting at a couple of cops. Since it was an active shooting, they couldn’t let anyone through. They had to back us up and send us south to go north. My GPS took us very far out of our way but that was the best for us because we avoided the horror show on US-1.

Hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day in 2017.

I am grateful for getting home in one piece.
