RTBTCKI It is Summer Again Edition

Posted By on October 5, 2012

Or at least for a day or so. We go back to autumn on Sunday along with more rain.

Which means that the cat boxes must be done today rather than Sunday. I redo my cat boxes outside because it doesn’t stink as much and I can sweep the excess litter on the driveway and out of my life.

My last birthday present or first Christmas present, since it is a little of both, arrived yesterday. It is a new sewing machine. My first super charged computer component sew machine. I have to set it up and learn to sew with it.

Can Cablevision and the CW (channel 11 for the locals) get over themselves? I am missing a number of really good shows or having to go through some serious hoops to see them. Yesterday I watched Supernatural on the computer just so I could be current. I am missing Hart of Dixie with the wonderful Scott Porter. I can’t see Arrow. I guess I didn’t realize how many CW shows I watch.

Getting ready for Halloween is always fun. This year I plan to get some holes dug so I can get the fence to stand up against a strong wind. I have some silhouettes I am going to use this year so the living room windows will tell a story when the lights are on in the house. Caroline and I are working on her costume and will do more this weekend. I want to get something done for NYCC this year as well.

I have been watching Project Runway this year. I really haven’t had much to say on the subject because I am not really wowed by any one designer but I have seen a lot of good stuff from many of the designers. Face/off has been fun. I am cheering for Roy because he is an Atlanta denizen. So far he has proved the fast but looks good looks. And, I think, after the first challenge he raised the bar as to what can be done in the time allotted. The hardest thing to portray in that show is how long it takes to get molds and foam to set up. There are no short cuts that don’t lead to disaster and we have seen some serious ones this year. Hot Set is interesting to me because I have built a lot sets in my time and many short deadlines. I don’t know how much the general public is interested in this sort of thing but Caroline is enjoying it.

Caroline has been dealing with some issues that all kids go through including the “why don’t the other kids like me” which has been fuel by a situation not of her making. We have been giving her advise as has her Sifu. I think the talk with Sifu helped a lot. It was an adult that she trusts and respects outside her family unit who talked to her not like she was a little kid. What we can’t change is that her life is a little different from the other kids. So we do what we can to give her normal activities to participate in like Girl Scouts and Kung Fu and other kids to play with. But it still can be hard for her and I have to remember that. I also have to remember that she has to be able to grow even in the face of adversity and mean girls.

My brain is sort of all over the place. I need to go quiet it down so I can sort some issues out that need to be sorted before things go too much further. I am scared that if I don’t, the backlash is not going to be pretty.

One week until NYCC and I am looking forward to it. I hope to see a lot of my friends there.

And again one week to NYCC and I have a metric ton of things I need to do before then so I think I will start on the first activity after posting this.

Have a good weekend y’all.

I am grateful for machines that make my life easier.

How is it even possible for you to see Supernatural (I presume the season premiere) online or anywhere else? In my neck of the woods (Las Vegas) we don’t get that or the debut of Arrow until this coming Wednesday the 10th.

Sorry to hear Caroline is dealing with a bully situation. I went through that a lot and there are no easy solutions.

Also hope Peter gets over his cold soon! A Nyquil and rest regimen is required. And double up on the Vitamin C.
