NWR for Torchwood Miracle Day Ep. 3

So we are a little less than a 1/3 of the way in. This episode moved us forward and reminded me of why I like watching Torchwood.
Spoilers behind the cut and in the comments.
I sometimes forget how good Barrowman is as an actor and then he does just a little thing that reminds me why I appreciate him as an actor. He is good at the subtle that later pays off but he can also act in very broad strokes. And I had forgotten how good Eve Myles is until this episode.
Mekhi Phifer is growing on me. He had been rather one note but this showed that it was more the writing than the actor. I hope that Alexa Havins character (Ester) makes it through the season and joins Torchwood. She is really our new fish out of water character like Gwen was in the first season.
Considering that we are about a 1/3 of the way through the 10 episode season, I am a little concerned that everything is going to get packed into the last two episodes rather than discovering as we go. Yes, we were introduced to the possible Big Bad this time around and I don’t mean Oswald Danes. I don’t believe that the BB is the ultimate BB in this story.
I am grateful that I got something added to my list of things to do for DragonCon.
A Drug Company Really? Did someone have a problem with the health care system?
I know that there is something else behind it because if it is just the drug company, then it is going to be rather a let down. I do think that the new painkiller without side effects will come into play down the road as something that had something to do with the whole thing.
Yes, we had sex scenes in the show but they felt kind of gratuitous more “Oh look we are on cable so we can kinda sorta show fûçkìņg” than anything based in the story. Jack going for a mercy fûçk to feel alive is more believable than Rex and Vera having it off because they are in the same room. Was there sexual tension between the two that I missed?
Interesting dynamics between Jack and Gwen that I hope they explore further. Did anyone else think that some dialogue got rewritten so Jack was happy about his hangover rather than his evening with the bartender? And what a piece of eye candy that bartender was. Woof!
I will say that it is keeping my interest.
Totally with you on the Rex/Vera scene; I didn’t buy into that at all. Jack/bartender, yes.
I’m not as interested in Rex as you are, but I think Vera’s interesting and I agree that it’d be great to have Esther join the fold from here on out.
