RTBTCKI The First Day of Fall 2009 edition
Posted By Kathleen David on September 22, 2009
Today is the first day of fall. Well, it will be at 5:18 pm this afternoon. Where did the summer go? Well actually I think I can answer that since we had a pretty packed summer this year. We even got in a short family vacation which was very nice.
I feel very muzzy headed this morning. I got to sleep about the regular time but was woken up in the middle of a very odd dream by a young voice asking if anyone was downstairs. I am sticking to my one cup of coffee because I want to be able to sleep tonight although I might add half a cup to get through the morning.
I did watch the end of the Colts vs. the Dolphins game. It was amazing how many games came down to the last two minutes this week. It was a good week of football for me. Teams I like won and teams I am not so partial to lost. I am not expecting this every week but it was a nice one.
I have stopped watching baseball. Last night I was going to watch the Braves/Mets game but we were taping House and Heroes last night which I need to watch. Also I had bowling. We were down one team member but we did pretty well. We split the third game so came out with 6 ½ out of 11. When we were on, we were on. I won’t be there next week but I might pre-bowl this week.
Caroline is adjusting to first grade. Today is picture day so she chose her dress very carefully because she wanted to make sure she was fashionable. She’s not a clothes horse but she does try to look nice with what she has. She does love school and all the new things that she gets to do because she is in first grade. Now she has P.E., art, music, and library time along with her classroom instruction. They still have recess so she can run around on the playground.
I have a PTA function tomorrow which is the start of the school year for the PTA. I think I am helping with the limbo contest. Then in October, I start back working at the library at least once a week. It is amazing how much more I feel tied in to the school this year than I did last year. But this year I know more people and just about everyone knows me because of the puppet show we did at Field Day.
Still waiting to hear on some various pieces of news. Some times the waiting is worse than finding out that it is a “no” or a “not at this point”. Personally I am hoping for some really nice “yes” answers to what we have done. In some ways, you get use to this sort of life and in others you never do. But our lives can change with a phone call or an e-mail both good and bad. I’m personally hoping for some good considering the run of bad we have had recently.
I am grateful that Caroline is adjusting well to the rigors of First Grade.
