Back to the Routine . . .Sort of
Posted By Kathleen David on September 12, 2009
Now that DragonCon is over and school has started along with our bowling leagues, we are back to our usual routine. However this year the routine is changing because Ariel is off at college so all the stuff that use to be part of our routine because Ariel was in high school has been taken out. It is strange not having Ariel around. We keep in touch so I know she is having a blast and a half at college. She is working out her routine and all those little things you have to learn to navigate your way through college.
Caroline is adjusting to being the only child at home. She misses her big sister a lot. She has lost her playmate and babysitter. We are helping her with the transition and going to school has helped her a lot because she had something to do during the day that involves other people. She likes her teacher and is getting use to all the new rules and perks she has now that she is a first grader.
I am adjusting to cooking for three not four which was a bigger deal than I thought it would be. I just have to work out how I am going to do this and figure that I will have sushi with Ariel when she comes home. Ariel and I made it a point of going out once a month to our favorite sushi restaurant and taking some time for ourselves. I will say one less person to do laundry for makes it a little easier to get it done but not much easier.
Today I plan to catch up on some stuff I have just let go because of all the things that were going on in August and the beginning of September. Tomorrow Peter may, or may not, have a function he has agreed to attend. He is waiting to hear on that. Today he is writing his Ben 10 script for the TV show. Caroline is playing with her toys and has created an entire town with all kinds of shops and people that inhabit it. I have been listening to her spin the tale of this place while I have been typing this.
I am grateful for a pause before the next convention.
