DragonCon 2009 The Beginnings
Posted By Kathleen David on September 4, 2009
It is amazing to watch the con roll into the hotels. The people off loading all kinds of gear in front of the hotel. The traffic jam to off load all that gear. The lines at check in snaking through the front lobbies. The flash of cameras as people start to take picture of their weekend. The various pre-con activities going on. The blood drive which was going pretty much full tilt until 10pm.
I set up my table in the Art Show. I have one or two things I need to tweek in terms of the set up and I need to add a prop or two that I have left in another bag. I also need to go over some materials for my first panel so I am ready for it.
Here is my DragonCon 2009 Art show table
The long view
(For the visually impaired readers, this is a long table covered with Puppets and Dolls I have made.)
A straight on shot of the gang.
(For the visually impaired readers, this is a closer shot of table emphasizing the dolls in front of the Doctor Who puppets)
I have already gotten some very good reactions from people just walking by. We’ll see how it plays out by Monday.
Today we start panels and I am one of the judges for the Workmanship contest. So that will be a majority of my evening. Peter has a number of panels and plans to be at his table in artist alley the rest of the time (Table 39 in Artist alley in the Hyatt in the Grandball room next to the art show.) Come on by and say Hi.
I am grateful that I got everything done that I needed to get done yesterday.
