At the Zoo

I loved the song “At the Zoo” by Simon and Garfunkel when I was a kid. I thought it was about the Central Park Zoo but now I think it was about the Bronx Zoo because of the animals listed in the song.
Yesterday I took Caroline, Ariel and Ariel’s friend John to the Bronx Zoo. We met up with the Rosenbergs at the Zoo for a wonderful day of zoo patronage.
This is Caroline and her friend in front of the sea lions exhibit.
The kids had a blast (even the teens). The lunch fare has, apparently, improved greatly. We rode the Bug Carousel, which was very unique. We saw lemurs, baby sea lions, monkeys, giraffes, gorillas, hissing cockroaches, and many other animals.
The heat and the humidity was rather oppressive but the zoo has plenty of shade in the areas we were in and the exhibits had pockets of AC so we could cool off a bit before braving the heat again. The set up at the zoo works well.
We didn’t see it all but that’s fine because we can always go back again and explore the rest of the zoo.
I am grateful that we managed to get this trip together.
