DiscWorld Day 6: Slowly but Surely

Peter and Ariel went to the PBA finals which are aired live on ESPN on Sunday afternoon. Peter was wearing his Spider-man football jersey so when the camera went to that side of the room, it was easy to spot him. Ariel got the camera man to show her sign “Hambone is not Kosher” on national cable TV. For the non-bowler when you get three strikes in a row it is a turkey, four is a four bagger, five is a five bagger, six is a six pack, seven is seven in a row and so on. One of the announcers, who admits to not being a bowler, came up with Hambone for four in a row and he is meeting with some resistance to it especially if you know what hambone is in urban slang. So Ariel got her feelings known on camera.
I was home with Caroline who wanted to do crafty things with me. I did get Magrat’s head done along with her hands and feet but not much further than that. So this morning is to get the other feet done and cured. Then to start the painting process which takes a while. If I am lucky then I will have bodies by this evening and two days to make costumes. If I am not lucky then I have more to do in less time.
Having seen what some of the other doll artists are doing almost got me to feeling that I should bag the whole thing but people seem interested in the project and one of the women running it gave me some encouragement and a compliment that I don’t think she realized she gave me. So I have some motivation to getting this done.
However the house is suffering a bit as it does when I am full bore on a project so I have to take a little time to pick up the house so it doesn’t slide into full mess. Sad thing is that I got it in good shape on Saturday. Or I might just let it go until Thursday when I have to have this project done. I am unpredictable.
In other news, Peter posted Caroline’s review of Monsters vs. Aliens on his website. You can read it here. Warning there are a lot of spoilers but you are getting a movie review from a six year old.
I am grateful for Caroline’s ability to follow a story and then tell me about it two days later.
Glad to read that you’re not throwing in the towel on the dolls. I’m not crafty myself, but I LOVE seeing other people’s work. And the fact that it’s Disc World, and especially that it’s the Witches. I’m very excited. Granny is a literary hero of mine and I can’t wait to see how she turns out.
