DiscWorld Dolls Day 4: One step forward and. . . .

Posted By on March 28, 2009

I have the heads for Granny and Nanny sculpted out which I will go over once more before I put them into the oven to cure (I can’t say bake. I get all sorts of Hansel and Gretel images in my head). I did Greebo in paperclay and now understand why a number of doll artists I know shy away from paperclay. I might use it again but until I have a better idea how to work it, I am not.

This morning I am in the kitchen getting my coffee when I hear a mighty BANG! I go out and the cats are hiding and my craft table is leaning at a not-good angle. I am watching my dolls slowly slide and then faster to the floor. Not too much damage but there is repair needed which will take a while to reconstruct what I had.

I put up a Photobucket photo stream last night of the work so far (this was before the tilting table incident of this morning). It works for me but I don’t know how it is working for anyone else. I might go back and just put the photos up rather than make it a slideshow. Any thoughts?(For my visually impaired readers the photos were of the armatures I use for the bodies, the armatures with the beginnings of the heads, the cat, Greebo, sculpted out of paper clay, one of the sculpt for the head Granny Weathewax and one of the sculpt for the head of Nanny Ogg.)

The only two picks I still have going are Oklahoma and Villanova for the NCAA tourney. They lose and I am done this year which has to be better than I did last year where I didn’t even get a team to the elite eight. Frankly, you don’t want me picking your team because you will lose. I seem to be the anti-pick.

I am bowling in the PBA Pro/Am tonight. First time I am doing this. My average is up to something I am willing to show in public and I have an established book average that can be plugged into the equation.  I have been resting up a very sore leg and back from Thursday and really hope that it doesn’t affect my game this evening.

Caroline had a splendid afternoon yesterday. She had her Daisy Scout meeting and then came home and played outside for over two hours. Good thing too since today we have rain coming down in buckets. It’s an indoor day with lots going on for her sister and father but not as much for her.  I think I will find something for her to do today that is fun and different for her.

I am grateful that the damage from the table crash was not as bad as it could have been.

The slide show is working fine here; I’d keep the whole thing up that way.
