Mysterious Bite

Posted By on August 9, 2007

Last night Caroline came to me because her hand hurt. It looked like she jammed her finger and I had her dip it in cool water and gave her some pain meds. This morning her whole left hand is swollen and I can now see a puncture wound just below the lower joint of her finger. So this morning is going to be about a visit to the Doctor to find out what we need to do for her.

More as I know more.

I am grateful that Caroline showed me her hand last night so I have a better idea when it happened.

Kathleen, didn’t you have something similar happen a while back to yourself? Did they ever determine what it was?

Supposedly NYC is not likelyto have brown recluse (Although I have other sources that claim differently) but it doesn’t sound like a recluse bite (thank God). I’ve heard that most “spider bites” are actually other things that get blamed on spiders–a splinter wound that gets infected or something like that. Or it could be a relatively harmless spider bite and she’s just more allergic to it than most. At any rate, it is good that she told you about it and they can just pop some antibiotics in there and fix it up.
