Crafty Tuesday A Month Before DragonCon 2016

Posted By on August 2, 2016

I think I need to just sit down and write down what I have left to do. Then have a good cry and just get it done.

Yesterday was a wash for me. I got some stuff done but my bigger problem is that my hands were not cooperating so it was taking me about three time the amount of time it usually takes me to do anything. There were a lot of things that ‘flew’ out of my hand. Trying to cut a straight line was a long process. Sewing was not happening with the machine and trying to thread a needle was a crap shoot.

This morning, so far, things are calm and I think I can get stuff done. Going to start with a simple Phluzzie and go from there. I want to get Foam into place before it starts raining again.

The frustration I am feeling because I don’t have the stamina that I use to for these sorts of things is growing. But I will pull it from somewhere because I always pull it from somewhere.

I am going to have to bag the costume for DragonCon until NYCC. Realistically don’t have the time and I am going to recognize that I don’t have the time or resources to pull it off the way I want to. But I have the pieces of what I need to do. So I am thinking that I will produce a piece at a time.

So off to sew, then gym, then grocery store, then back to the puppets.

I am grateful that I know my limitations and how many hours I really have.

Congratulations on taking a reality check. In the past when I have been overwhelmed with too much to do in too little time, my typical response was to plow through until (1) I ran out of time or (2) I was completely exhausted. or (3) both. Knowing my limitations, and how they have changed due to time and changing health conditions, has helped a lot. But I still fall into the old (bad) habits from time to time. Hang in there!

I hope that work is progressing so fast on DragonCon projects that there is no time to post! Sending good thoughts your way that all is well.

Kathleen: Hope you are OK. My son and I are “big fans” of your husband’s work (in fact, at Artist Alley in SD, being tongue tied meeting Mr. David, I used that term “big fans”– to which your husband, after looking us up and down, replied in true David fashion, “No, not the biggest though”.

Anyway, we enjoy keeping up on your daily doings as well so for you to be absent this long is a bit disconcerting. If the fans can do anything, let us know!
