Yep, I am seriously in the dog-house and not the nice one that Snoopy owns (I figured Snoopy and Oscar the Grouch had the same architect.)
Yesterday was my mother’s birthday. She even sent me a hint that it was her birthday and it went right over my head. So today we talked on the phone and she informed me of my serious faux pas or rather she walked me to it.
Funny thing was that I was just thinking this morning that I needed to check when Mom’s birthday was.
I told my mom the only birthday in my entire family I have solid besides mine is my sister Sheila because it is on Flag Day.
As I have stated before I was lucky to have such an awesome mom. She has always been there for me no matter what the situation.
She has dropped everything to help me more times that I can count.
People talk about the problems that they have with their moms. I remember one science fiction convention where we were discussing mothers and everyone was just ragged on their mom. It got to me and I shrugged and said, “I can honestly say that I have nothing that I can complain about.” The people who knew my mom all nodded and told the others that I was telling the truth.
I am not saying that we have never butted heads or have differences of opinion on things. I was a teenager with all those lovely teenage angst and bad decisions as my brain matured and I am sure there were times that she just threw up her hands in sheer frustration but she still dealt with me.
And I think I turned out OK. I am now dealing with a daughter of my own and I must say I am amazed at my mother’s patience with me.
So Belated Happy Birthday Mom! Know that I love and appreciate you and all that you have done for me.
I am grateful that my mom is my mom and is also very forgiving.
